All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt

The film opens on hands, and you keep wondering whose they are: a caress, an embrace, a palm pressed into the ground. They belong to Mack, a Black woman in Mississippi, and Raven Jackson follows her from childhood into adulthood through love, waiting and heartbreak. There is very little talking, because the film holds that people come to know each other, and the place that raised them, through touch.
