Archangel

Lt. John Boles, a one-legged Canadian soldier, wants nothing more than to find the woman he believes died in the war. In Arkhangelsk in 1919, as the October Revolution rages and the Allies intervene, a dysfunctional Russian family takes him in from the cold. There he mistakes a local woman for his lost lover, and Guy Maddin shoots the whole thing in the grainy, flickering look of an old silent print.
