Bitter Christmas

“You’re confusing fiction with reality.”

Elsa (Bárbara Lennie) arrives at a family house for Christmas, where her ex-husband Raúl Durán (Leonardo Sbaraglia) is already waiting with his new wife Mónica (Aitana Sánchez-Gijón). Old resentments surface and memories collide with the present. Almodóvar finds in this collision the strange truth that we return to the people who have hurt us because leaving them behind means losing the only witness to who we were.
