Black Peter

Petr (Ladislav Jakim) begins his first job in Czechoslovakia, and the days that follow are a run of small, uneasy moments with his father (Jan Vostrčil), with Pavla (Pavla Martínková), and with the boys he measures himself against. Nothing is handed to him except a few days to get through. Miloš Forman keeps the camera at a patient distance and lets the awkward pauses stand in for dialogue.
