Death of a Bureaucrat
“It is easier to kill a bureaucrat than to kill bureaucracy.”
In 1966 Cuba, a model revolutionary dies at work and is buried with his labor card in his suit pocket, a final badge of honor. His widow goes to claim the pension, and the office wants the original card. His nephew (Salvador Wood) starts the long walk through forms, clerks and contradictory rules to get permission to dig the body up, and Tomás Gutiérrez Alea plays each dead-end office with a straight face while the absurdity piles up around it.
