Macy vanishes during a hike in the Tennessee mountains and wakes trapped in a remote cabin with a locked door and boarded windows. A monstrous figure (Max Lindsey) has taken her, convinced she belongs to it as a child. Blackhurst tightens the walls around her until escape becomes less about getting out than about the person she might have to become to survive.
