Elton John: Never Too Late

“He risked everything to find himself.”

Elton John (Self) is on his final tour, the Farewell Yellow Brick Road, and the film cuts between the concerts and archive footage, his private journals, and moments with David Furnish (Self) and their family offstage. R. J. Cutler and David Furnish weave in collaborator Bernie Taupin (Self) and glimpses of John Lennon (Self), tracing how a shy boy became a force in music. What hangs in the balance is whether a life spent performing can ever truly be left behind.
