Eternal Visionary

Luigi Pirandello (Fabrizio Bentivoglio) wants recognition that reaches beyond the stage, even as his marriage to Antonietta (Valeria Bruni Tedeschi) and his affair with Saul Colin (Michele Placido) pull him in opposite directions. On his way to Stockholm to accept the Nobel Prize in 1934, he carries both bonds with him. Placido traces how a man who made art from fractured identities lived fractured himself, never quite able to choose what his life should mean.
