Fear of Fear

Margot (Margit Carstensen) is a German housewife who has just had her second child and cannot shake a dread she has no name for. Her husband Kurt (Ulrich Faulhaber) and her mother-in-law (Brigitte Mira) look on, puzzled, as doctors keep giving her the wrong diagnosis. Fassbinder follows her fear as it widens, and what it threatens to take is her marriage, her children and her hold on her own mind.
