“Some miracles are not what they seem.”

Captain Whip Whitaker (Denzel Washington) is piloting a commercial airliner over the Atlantic when a mechanical failure sends the plane into a nosedive. Through instinct and skill, he inverts the aircraft and crash-lands it, saving nearly everyone aboard. The investigation that follows reveals he was flying drunk, and the crash forces him to confront a dependency that has defined his entire life.
