Fragment of an Empire

Filimonov (Fyodor Nikitin) is a former officer who has spent ten years after the Great War with no memory, until a woman glimpsed through a train window brings it back. He goes home to St. Petersburg, now called Leningrad, and finds a city and a country rebuilt without him. Fridrikh Ermler follows him to the door of his wife (Lyudmila Semyonova), who has married someone else.
