Frida
“Her truth. Her art. Her words.”
A young Frida Kahlo (archive footage) paints in her Mexico City home, her body already marked by polio and a bus accident that shattered her spine. Carla Gutierrez weaves together photographs and film with a narrator's voice (Fernanda Echevarría del Rivero) reading from Kahlo's letters and diary. The film dwells on her marriage to muralist Diego Rivera, a partnership of ambition and betrayal that gave her both her greatest subject and her deepest wound.
