Jeff Buckley drowned in the Mississippi River in 1997, at thirty, leaving behind one album and unfinished songs. Amy J. Berg assembles archive footage and interviews with those who knew him, his mother Mary Guibert (Mary Guibert), collaborators like Ben Harper (Ben Harper) and Aimee Mann (Aimee Mann). What emerges is less a biography than a portrait of how the living hold on to someone through memory, each person carrying their own version of who he was.
