La Ciénaga

A strain has settled over the country estate, though nobody in the film names it, and the heat pushes everyone toward the same unmoving afternoon. Lucrecia Martel gathers two families there, one at a crumbling house, the other in a modest townhouse, with children and servants moving between the adults. Mecha (Graciela Borges), the matriarch, stays in her chair with her drink, and Tali (Mercedes Morán) watches her own household come apart around her.
