Katia Reiter (Marina Foïs) runs the Guadeloupe Volcano Observatory, a volcanologist who has accepted that her career will never see the eruption she trained for. Then the Soufrière begins to stir, and a younger volcanologist named Aimé Lubin (Théo Christine) arrives with an intensity that unsettles her careful routine. Vial shoots the island's gray light and trembling earth to suggest how much can shift when you stop expecting change.
