Mandala

In 1971, two university couples from Kyoto agree to swap partners for a night and drive to an isolated motel. One of the pairs is attacked there, and Maki (Shin Kishida) and Shinichi (Kōji Shimizu) set out to find who did it. Their search leads to a cult that preaches sexual freedom, and Akio Jissoji frames it all in tilted, claustrophobic compositions that never let the viewer settle.
