Mariana's Room

In 1943 Ukraine, Yulia (Julia Goldberg) smuggles her son Hugo (Artem Kyryk) out of the ghetto and leaves him with Mariana (Mélanie Thierry), a sex worker in a brothel, trusting her with his life. Hugo hides in a closet, the world reduced to a crack of light and his own fevered imagination. Mariana slowly coaxes him into the rooms around him, and what grows between them becomes the only shelter either of them has.
