Outlaw

At nine, Rebeca (Maria Bomani) is sold to a bookseller who controls Rocinha, Rio's favela caught between warring drug dealers and numbers runners. She becomes the wife of the chief trafficker, then his successor when he dies, running the community's cocaine trade through the 1980s. Wainer traces her rise through violence and desire, ending on what survives between Rebeca and those who loved her through the wreckage.
