Red Post on Escher Street

Tadashi Kobayashi (Tatsuhiro Yamaoka) is a director with festival credentials who gets drafted to shoot a new film. The studio insists he cast two famous actresses as leads, and the rest of the cast arrives as a crowd of oddballs with no clear sense of how they come across. Sion Sono fills the set with this ensemble as it grows louder and bolder, and the film reads as a love letter to cinema and the people who perform in it.
