The Wave
Miro (Silvio Hernández), a fisherman in Alvarado on the Gulf Coast, loses his young son because his wages will not cover the doctor. He starts to see how the men around him are cheated by the one boss they all work for and the politician who writes the rules in the boss's favor. Fred Zinnemann and Emilio Gómez Muriel cast local fishermen alongside him, and what holds the film together is the bond between Miro and the men who share his boats.
