“Steel Your Nerves! Here's excitement that will smash them!”
Three escaped convicts led by Sam Hurley (Stephen McNally) take hostages and hole up in a deserted ghost town, with no idea it has been chosen for a nuclear bomb test. Dick Powell directs the hostages, among them Kay Garven (Alexis Smith) and Larry Fleming (Keith Andes), as a hunted, scattered group in a place waiting to be emptied. Kay, caught in the same room as Hurley's men and Dottie Vale (Jan Sterling), has to decide whom she can trust before morning.
