Swim to Me
Estela (María Paz Grandjean) works as a live-in maid in a middle-class Santiago home, moving through the routines of someone whose labor is everywhere and whose presence is nowhere. She tends to the child and the dishes, caught in the small humiliations of marginal life. Sotomayor shoots the domestic spaces in muted light and long takes, letting the camera stay where Estela stays, until the weight of invisibility becomes the film's own texture.
