The Book of Life

(2014)Directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez95 min · PGAnimation, Family, Fantasy
“Two worlds. One love.”

Two goddesses make a wager on the fate of a young man: one bets he will follow his heart, the other that he will obey tradition. Manolo (Diego Luna), caught between his family's expectations and his love for Maria (Zoe Saldaña), is drawn into the magical underworld where the bet plays out. The film spins across glowing landscapes teaching that the life worth living is the one you choose for yourself, not the one chosen for you.
