The Children's Train

In Naples, 1946, nine-year-old Amerigo (Christian Cervone) boards a train north with hundreds of other poor children, sent by their families to find work and food with strangers. Derna (Barbara Ronchi) and Antonietta (Serena Rossi) are the women charged with shepherding them through the journey and into their new homes. Amerigo stands on the platform of a northern station, a small suitcase at his feet, looking back at the train pulling away.
