The Firemen's Ball

In 1967, the volunteer fire department of a small Czechoslovak town holds its annual ball to honor its retiring chief. The evening is meant to bring music, dancing, a raffle and a beauty pageant, with the whole town in attendance. Miloš Forman gives the committee, led by the Head of Committee (Jan Vostrčil), a night of small troubles, and the men who run the party must keep it going alongside the neighbors they have known all their lives.
