The Italian Straw Hat

Fadinard (Albert Préjean) is on his way to his own wedding when his horse eats a straw hat hanging on a roadside bush. The woman it belongs to, Anais (Olga Tschechowa), is hidden behind that bush with her lover, Lieutenant Tavernier (Geymond Vital), who orders Fadinard to find an identical hat or watch his new home get smashed. René Clair, in his first feature, treats a respectable wedding day as a farce where one small mistake sends a whole party of guests running.
