The Needle

Moro (Viktor Tsoi) comes back to Alma-Ata to collect a debt, and the delay leaves him a few idle days in a city he used to know. He visits his old girlfriend Dina (Marina Smirnova) and finds her hooked on morphine, then sets out to get her clean and take on the local dealers behind it. Rashid Nugmanov films the Soviet city as a place of dull, shabby rooms, where the dread comes from how ordinary everything looks.
