The Safe House

A nine-year-old boy spends May 1968 hidden away at his grandparents' house, Mère-Grand (Dominique Reymond) and Père-Grand (Michel Blanc), while the streets outside burn with revolution. The boy moves through rooms crowded with uncles and a great-grandmother, each one a separate weight, separate need. Baier frames them all in grainy light, their faces close and worn, the house itself becoming a kind of pressure that will not lift.
