Julian's family is trapped in grief so heavy that Christmas has vanished from their house entirely. Then he meets Hedvig (Celina Meyer Hovland), a girl who arrives with inexplicable joy and snow still clinging to her clothes, and she seems to know things about him he has never spoken aloud. As winter deepens around them, Julian begins to understand that some kinds of breaking open cannot happen alone.
