Synopsis

Thérèse Gauthier (Madeleine Renaud) and her husband Pierre (Charles Vanel) have given themselves over to airplanes and flight, and the household pays for it. Their family sits at the edge of the sky they keep looking up at, with Madame Brissard (Raymonde Vernay), the mother-in-law, watching it all with a sharp tongue. Jean Grémillon, working in France in 1944, gives the pull of flying and the weight of home equal room.
