A drifter known only as The Man (Morley Nelson) arrives at a remote cabin in the wintry North American wilderness to protect two abandoned children from a spreading infection that turns people feral and violent. He fortifies their shelter against outsiders while threats close in from the frozen forest. In the end, survival means accepting that some lines between protector and threat blur beyond recognition.
