When Socorro's (Luisa Huertas) brother dies in 1968, her family discovers he left behind a debt that threatens to take their home. She and her relatives must figure out how to fight back against the creditors closing in. Saint-Martin builds the story around small gestures of defiance, each one absurd and necessary at once, until the house itself becomes a kind of monument, the family still there, refusing to leave.
