VISIBLE CRAFT

one-night odyssey

Films whose narrative is structurally confined to a single night or analogous compressed time window (one day, one continuous event), where the temporal compression itself is the dramatic engine — generating urgency, escalation, or revelation through the crucible of hours. The protagonist moves through space (city, campus, party circuit) rather than being confined to one location. Distinct from claustrophobic-tension (which shares compression but is spatially locked and psychologically inward) by requiring movement and odyssey-structure: the night as labyrinth to be traversed. Distinct from kinetic-urgency (which is a pace/energy register) by being specifically about narrative architecture — the bounded-time frame as structural premise, not just a feeling of speed.
